A Truly Traditional Country Pub
Parts of the Royal Oak date back to the 17th Century, some as far back as 1613! It has been trading as a Public House from the middle of the 18th Century. There have been many changes over that period which include the building of the Deepdene Estate (once the home of the Hope Diamond) and its demise, the opening and then closing of the local Dorking Brickworks, and the formation of North Holmwood Nature Reserve.
Adrian and Beverley always extend a warm welcome to all including canine friends (dining room excluded except for working dogs). Warm fires and Mulled wine in the winter and magnificent sunsets over the open countryside in the Spring and Summer

To Book a Table or Function
For Table Booking or Functions please phone 01306 885420
We will (unfortuneately) require a deposit of £10/head for Table Bookings of Six (6) or more, especially on a Sunday. Bookings cancelled at least one hour before the start of that days service (or in exceptional circumstances) will be refunded. All 'no' shows will lose the deposit.

Seriously Nice Local Walks
Being very close to Box Hill and Lieth Hill the Royal Oak is surrounded by beautiful and accessible countryside. Two very nice trails start from the Pub. The first covers Fourwents Pond and North Holmwood Common (NT) and the details and directions are to be found on the Fancy Free Web site, www.fancyfreewalks.org and the other is the newly formed Deepdene Trail with the 'Hope Mausoleum' a short distance away. More information can be found on www.deepdenetrail.co.uk
We are very happy to take pre-orders from Walking and other organised groups for Lunch or Diner.
